Back in July of 2018 we had an email from Martina and Clyde checking our availability for their wedding in Valletta for 2019. As a wedding photographer in Malta, Valletta makes an awesome backdrop, not just for weddings but also for photoshoots. I remember getting really excited when they mentioned walking from the Church to the reception at the Lower Barrakka Gardens. “Photoshoot on the way, including Valletta streets and Upper Barrakka” they said. Well, that was it for me, these are locations I often use for my Pre- Wedding and Post Wedding photoshoots. Actually, most photoshoots I do in Valletta end up in these locations on the very same streets. So this was one wedding I could not wait to shoot.
Spring 2019 we met up for the first time in Valletta and after a coffee and a chat we decided to walk the route from the church, St Catherine of Italy, Valletta, to the reception venue, Lower Barrakka Gardens, and look for places to stop and shoot on the way.
A few months later it was time to meet again, this time for the big day. We started with Clyde, he had decided to get ready at his family home about half an hour from Valletta. A few hours later we were with Martina, she was getting ready in Valletta at Luciano Boutique. We had passed Luciano many times and it even featured as a backdrop for many photoshoots, however, we had never been inside. After 5 flights of stairs which were very narrow, with a couple of cameras and lighting we were thinking this better be worth it. Luckily there were two of us! Well, it sure was worth it, a stunning room with amazing views over Valletta’s Grand Harbor.
In fact everything was just perfect. Martina and Clyde are such a lovely couple and made us feel so welcome all day. Their friends and family were all so much fun.
A very emotional ceremony in a beautiful church. I finally got to shoot the walk from the church to the gardens joined by not only the Martina and Clyde but also many of their family and friends. We had a blast and got some great shots, as a wedding photographer its always nice to try something a little different.
Then the Lower Barrakka Gardens, another location I often use for Pre-wedding shoots. This time though, it was sectioned of for the reception and they had made it look amazing. Before we knew it the party had started, the night just flew by which is always a sign of a great wedding.
We hope you enjoy some of our favourite images of Martina and Clyde’s epic wedding in Valletta.
